Hello everyone. As you can tell, this is my first SCP. For this I'm mainly looking at if the idea itself is good and not similar to another SCP, if it makes sense, and if it would just make for an interesting read in general. I know this will probably need a lot of work to be decent enough to post so please be honest. Thank you for reviewing!
Please do not create duplicate threads as this causes forum clutter and it is within the crit forum guidlines.
For any reviewers wishing to critque this article please critque in the following thread: http://www.scp-wiki.net/forum/t-10025700/my-very-first-scp-looking-for-feedback
Requesting a mod to lock the thread.
Yeah sorry I forgot the summary and couldn't delete the previous one. If someone can delete the first one and keep this one open I would appreciate it.
Oh, I believe you can use "Edit Title and Description" to do so. Also, staff don't delete threads unless they break serious rules.
Found it, it was tucked away in more options. I'll add the description to that one. Also, it is a little weird I'm not able to delete my own post, I've never seen a forum do that before.
I've never seen a forum do that before.
It's to keep people accountable for what they post. We get the occasional troll or spammer here and there, and if they can't delete their posts, they can't pretend they didn't break rules.
pretty good! the only thing I would recommend doing is putting the Item#, Special containment procedures and Description titles in bold so that way it's easier to navigate. other than that, very good!
Dr Whittington, this feedback is vague and very misleading.
pretty good! […] other than that, very good!
What about the draft is good? What are the strengths of the piece that the author can focus on if reviewers feel that significant edits are necessary?
I personally will say that this is definitely not good—it's a very common premise ("thing that kills people for no reason") and we see variations of the same sort of object get deleted off the site every week. Furthermore, the formatting will need more adjustment than just the bolded headings; the entire spacing is skewed to the left.
Author, I highly recommend getting the base idea polished up in the Ideas and Brainstorming forum before you try fixing the draft. Go to that forum, post a quick summary of the concept you want to write up (don't link the draft unless someone asks), and reviewers there can help you make the idea more interesting.
Furthermore, definitely read over this essay on common SCP pitfalls to get an idea of what elements to avoid putting in an SCP article, as well as this page: http://www.scp-wiki.net/things-what-do-a-thing-an-essay-on-things for examples of how to spice up the classic overused "thing that does a thing" SCP formula.
