Firstly, I apologize if I break any rules or otherwise, I am relatively new to the site.
I have been trying to form an idea for an SCP article for quite a while, and I settled on a sort of fortune-telling/predicting… thing. Now, I ask for your feedback. More specifically, has this been overdone? I've read quite a few SCP articles, however not nearly close to all of them. I welcome any and all critique!
SCP-XXXX would be a door and doorframe, of modern build. The object itself would be heavily scarred, as if it had been through a fire. A metal mail slot would be situated in the center of the door, likely looking just as rough as the rest of it. There would be no abnormalities when first observed, a simple door through and through.
However, the anomalies would begin to arise when one person knocks on the "front" of the door. Maybe shuffling would be heard behind the door, or a shadow could pass by a clouded window. Then, the mail slot would be opened quickly, and a letter dispensed.
The letter would be addressed to whoever knocked, with their name written formally across the note. Upon opening and reading the letter, the person would read a fortune or otherwise, perhaps predicting a major moment in their lives. I would likely have the letters be writing in a rhyming/riddle form.
I know this is an incredibly rough draft but I would appreciate feedback, and please tell me if this has been done before in similar fashion!
