SCP Foundation

Hey.

I ain't exactly new; I've been lurking for quite a bit. My name is Captain Vermillion. I found out about this site from the page on TV Tropes. It's always great to see how a community can spawn this archive sprawling with intricate lore and active members. I honestly thought it was the coolest thing ever, so I decided I'd give it a shot. The member pages really inspired me as well. I liked how people could come up with the names and back stories for their avatars and I thought it was the raddest shit I've seen on sites like this. While I don't think I'm interested in making an SCP right now, I'm definitely going to give writing tales a go.

It's awesome that you're planning to write tales. We could definitely use more of those.

Of course, since you're going to write for the site, you need to make a sandbox page for yourself. Any drafts you write up there should be shown to the IRC chat and/or the drafts forums for feedback prior to a mainsite post.

You can also hang out in chat and talk about character development in real-time, and get a feel for the kind of feedback that's given there. I also recommend browsing the Guide Hub for pages that'll help, such as this guide about characters and the general things to avoid guide.

Of course, it'll definitely help to read some of the high rated tales, as well as some series. A good introduction to the mood of the Foundation universe is the In His Own Image series, written by site admin TroyL.
