So I had an idea for an SCP. This would be my first one, and I'm tempted to just write it and put it up for critique, but the thing is, it would be pretty long and I don't really want to waste my time if this has already been done or if people don't find it too interesting.
I'm still working out the details so excuse me for being a bit vague in places but the idea is that there is an 'event' where everyone in an isolated town/village dies (suicide, to be precise). Foundation go in (with relevant defences) and find one survivor - a kid, about 4-6 years of age, male. They take him back for containment & due to the nature of the SCP all contact & containment is done by Deaf people (for obvious reasons).
Testing commences (of which there will be logs) - a D-Class is subjected to the child. Within 15 minutes to 1 hour, the subject shows increased agitation and frustration - the subject wants to speak to someone. After 3-6 hours, the subject begins to self-injure. Within 6-12 hours, self-injury graduates to self-mutilation. After 12+ hours, the subject expires (through any means possible to itself).
Second test - Subject is exposed to SCP, then during phase 2 (self-injury), Subject 2 is exposted to Subject 1. There is an animated conversation (which is not listened in on for obvious reasons). Subject 2 enters phase 2 (self-injury) after 3-6 hours.
Third test - Subject is exposed to SCP. Subject is recorded throughout phases. Recording is played to Subject 2. Subject 2 enters phase 2 (self-injury) after 3-6 hours.
Fourth test - Subject is exposed to SCP. Subject is recorded by means of transcription using computer software. Subject 2 is directed to read the transcript. Subject 2 shows no signs of infection after 72 hours.
Communication through computer software (researcher typing into the computer, computer speaking it to subject, computer transcribing response, researcher reading response) approved. There will be logs of this test.
Surprisingly, this isn't where the whole thing goes to hell. They successfully (although, hopefully, somewhat disturbingly) communicate with the subject. It all goes to hell when the kid observes Foundation personnel using sign language (during routine cleaning or transport, again I'm being a bit cagey on the details as this is still an idea in progress). The SCP tries to successfully communicate with personnel. Infection spreads as fast as a rumour. Instance is contained - site is locked down for 30 days, at which point a taskforce goes in and cleans out the dead, shooting any survivors (they can't take the risk with something that potentially virulent). The SCP (who is otherwise a normal human child) dies of dehydration long before the 30 days are up.
So, has it been done? Is it worth writing? Is it something people would be interested in? Cheers!
