So I was thinking about which of my SCPs would be a good in-universe and out-of-universe contribution for Project Resurrection, and I decided on SCP-2735. While they're completely and utterly useless in a combat setting, obviously, they could act in an advisory role related to research and engineering.
If they could communicate with humans, -1 and -3 would be able to provide unorthodox answers and solutions to technical and scientific problems, since they have the knowledge of a culture that was able to build interplanetary spaceships, but one which has a completely alien psychology, culture and history. They would act as a "second opinion", essentially, for non-anomalous human scientists. Also, the head researcher on 2735 would be pushing for their inclusion in Alpha-9 mostly because he wants funding for translating their bioluminescent language, and being in Alpha-9 is a good excuse for that.
The tale itself would alternate between the perspectives of Dr. Black, the linguist assigned to 2735, and SCP-2735-3, the scientist of the remaining three 2735 instances, as the language barrier between humans and 2735 is broken. Additionally, the tale would open with the O5s debating, among other unmentioned things, the proposal to include 2735-1 and 2735-3 in Alpha-9.
What do people think of the idea? This is my first time writing a tale ever, so if it's a terribad concept, I really want to know.
For those of you who know a lot about linguistics/psychology/biology/etc., how long would you estimate it would take to break down a language barrier between humanity and what are essentially aliens? What would be the best method for doing so?
Also, does anyone have any suggestions for a title?
