I want to try to create a big, bad looking creature that doesn't simply go around killing folk.
My idea is ostensibly a dragon (old medieval bipedal, regal looking types that aren't too tall) but is rather docile and difficult to provoke. The most visible and immediate anomalous effect would be that any artificial surroundings within X-radius would quickly become adorned with heraldry depicting said dragon. Eventually the furnishings, decorations etc would become "royal" in some way.
The secondary effect (misunderstood by the foundation at first) would be a gradual bolstering of one's confidence when in its presence, as well as a general sense of awe and wellness. The change is slow enough that it takes some time for the foundation to realize that this effect has no upward limit. Those in close proximity for extended periods of time become more confident, then more assertive, then more aggressive. They'll repeatedly pick fights, belittle others who aren't perceived as the SCP's "in-group" and will generally be extremely confident of their superiority due to their association with the dragon.
Violence will erupt as the dragon's "Subjects" attempt to wage war against the nearest organisation of authority. Soon they form roving warbands that fight in the dragons name and brings it "spoils" (arm-fulls of generally valuable equipment and items) as well as hosting grand feats where they prepare the flesh of their enemies for it. Eventually their aggression and sense of self-superiority is so great that in-fighting occurs in their ranks and most end up killing each other to prove to the dragon who is the most worthy of his trust.
Stupid idea? Not bad idea? Is there something I can retool to make it work or should I try for something else?
