Hi. I first found out about this site about a week ago. I read through a few pages to get a feel of it, looked through some of the Top Rated page, looked at some of the Lowest Rated pages, then had a look at the How to Write an SCP page and the list of cliches. At this point, I was already bursting with ideas, so, a few days ago, I made an account and wrote SCP-538 without thinking of dropping by the forum first. That didn't blow over too well. Got a pair of downvotes and only two helpful comments.
Ever eager to compensate for that, I wrote up SCP-536, which did follow the given suggestions (in that it had no contradictions and that it wasn't a Mary Sue or Mary Sueish device), but that got driveby downvoted almost right away.
So, I really don't know why these didn't work. Are the concepts bad? Is it just the writing? Any form of feedback is welcome.
