I just wanted to get some feedback on a rewrite that I did. It's under "remote control rewrite", and the original is "remote control original".
Also, I'm awful with code, so if someone could help me with the image formatting, that would be great. I need to have a black border around the image with the caption at the bottom.
Okay, so. Button that makes you afraid of a random thing when it's on, and I guess makes you attracted to things you were afraid of previously. The object itself is pretty boring, there's no depth to it as its just "does a thing with a random variable." You've got tone issues, both in your wording and having researchers both be a part of testing for no apparent reason as well as needing to comment on each test.
The idea was not mine originally, so I wasn't sure how to warp it into a better idea. I thought a researcher noting on each test would be normal? The only other way I could see to make this more interesting and spooky would be if the controller somehow turned on subjects' vision of a different universe or something. So instead of seeing just a spider they see a hellish version of a spider from somewhere else.
I would suggest that if you want to keep in the researcher comments you may want them to be a bit more clinical. Saying "I guess you keep the same fear with this thing. It's the same every time you turn it on" is a bit out of character for somebody trying to find out what an SCP does in a scientific manner.
Real life researchers are more likely to put something like "Subjects undergoing multiple tests seem to acquire the same phobia as during first exposure. Further testing requested.".
