Not bad. Kinda like a written version of 085. Now all we need is one that enters visual media like TV shows and video games and we'll have the complete set.

It's definitely an interesting avenue to explore, should 423 ever need destruction. On the one hand, simple incineration of the host material would likely suffice. On the other hand, it would seem a waste of an opportunity.
Yeah, I can't think of any good reason to destroy Fred rather than keep him contained. Heh, Fred could even be trained as a super spy, altering any document he leaps into to spread misinformation!
I have one small complaint about this SCP.
Description paragraph 3 - the last sentence says that if no humans are present it takes the species most appropriate for the story. While I do see how it would be possible to record this with video, it seems to me that if a story is long enough to have an appropriate and inappropriate species, the likelihood of having the text open to the page with "Fred's" description is not going to be high enough to be able to say that it definitely happens every time.
Other than that, great SCP. Upvoted.
I've redone that section. Does it seem better now?
The only thing bugging me is that it's to be neutralized if it breaches containment. Yes, I know, it needs to be contained (obviously), but I think gathering all "infected" works and severe reprimands of personnel in question is much better than incinerating it immediately.
