SCP Foundation

Biting the bullet and putting up my teams SCP. I know one of the crosslinks is broken, it will be remedied once my team's last piece goes up, and the article is supposed to work without it anyway.

Written as part of a collaboration between myself, SinfulSyntax, DrStranger, and Boogey_Man23 for the MTF 2016 contest.

All the historical stuff is legitimate, though if you have any questions send 'em my way.

My greatest concern with this article is that this and the goi-format talk about the same anomaly. This forces me to compare which looks better to express their respective story. And I will have to admit that MC&D pulled it off better. Sure we got the quantitative details and historic anecdotes here, but MC&D gave a more impressive showing in their history (and quantifying is not the affairs of businessmen).

It should say "circa 250 CE" just a small mistake I noticed.

There is a typo - Marshall is written as "Marsall".

Can't really find any issues other than tiny nitpicking. Time to upvote.

This ends up being a fairly barebones description of an anomaly that you already told me about. The MC&D format tells a better story with the changing value of this over time as the world changed around it.

Even if this was first, I think it may have been a mistake to have two documents about the exact same information.

I liked the MC&D version better, and this doesn't really add anything to the info that presented.

I'm thinking:

"In addition to SCP-2463, MTF-M3 also recovered a Marshall, Carter and Dark for the object."

should be be something like:

" In addition to SCP-2463, MTF-M3 also recovered a Marshall, Carter and Dark document for the object." (or something along those lines)

I kind of like both this and the MC&D version. I like when there are two perspectives on an item (foundation and goi, or two gois, etc).

Gonna have to read the MCD doc to see if there's something which makes this more interesting and turns my vote into a neutral one. But right now the given backstory, whilst not necessarily bad per se, just feels rather incongrous with the object itself; it feels just too practical that the chosen cursed substance just so happens to be the much sought petroleum.

This is a neutral vote for me. I think the concept is meh, but I think the document really saves this from getting downvoted. Particularly, this quote:

"A force to wipe out the Persian dogs. To make barren their lands, and sickly their people. A force to destroy every square foot on which they have ever walked and to plague their kingdom with bloodshed for millennia."

This was really clever, given what the object does. Although this does not save the article for me, though. It feels very bare bones to be perfectly honest. I think that if a little bit more time was put in it would be a lot better. Like, maybe some more correspondents between the author of the letter and the emperor or something along those lines.
