My main problem with this Tale is why would the doctor leave the SCP file at home. It does scream of a serious breach in security for one to bring workplace stuff back home. As such, that bit should be accounted for in the article. Otherwise, it will just be something pointed out and nitpicked, instead of something to be taken for grant or supposed.
Of course, one would suppose that the doctor did it to prove to his son that he is doing something… But the current writing is rather limited. There is little to show the motivations of the characters beyond the son.
And I would nitpick on choosing SCP-342. This scenario here can be replicated with practically any other SCP, whereby it is focused on families broken up by work at the Foundation. Perhaps you were inspired by 342 and wanted to keep it, that is fine. However, if possible, it would be stronger if you can integrate it more into the Tale.
