I have four ideas that need work, but I need to write up one of them to use as my first functional SCP. One, I had written up a draft for, and then a second draft, and then made some minor changes, uploaded it to the mainlist, and then… it didn't bomb, but it was at -10 in 24 hours. So nobody liked it. So I need to make a new one. So, here are the ideas, and I need to know what is the most intriguing…
IDEA 1: Black Hole Church for a Black Hole Town
EXECUTION: It's a Fisher King concept, where the church is the Fisher King and the town is the kingdom. If left alone, it's population grows ungodly fast, so of course it is Euclid. The thing is that the town doesn't know they are part of an anomaly, and can't be allowed to know, and they can't tear down the church because it would kill anyone. As it is here, it's an ok concept, but it needs work.
TL;DR: Well being of the church is the well being of the town.
HOOK: There would be an incidents log and an interview. The incidents log shows the town slowly, very slowly, getting weirder and the townspeople becoming more warped and strange as time goes on. One night, at midnight, the entire town, even those who didn't attend church, got up and gathered around the church to sing "Hallelujah Chorus" with all parts. Another time, Mass was attended at the church but nobody who went in came out. All townspeople claim ignorance to the disappearance of the people. At the interview, a crazy homeless guy might know what he's talking about, and pokes at the unmentionable horror living below the church.
IDEA 2: A Plague of Giant Brazilian Reptiles
EXECUTION: The anomaly is as follows; in a sectioned off part of the jungle in Brazil, if you find a large lizard, say (with any tone) any sort of something talking about how big the lizard is, 2-3 other lizards (or, I should say reptiles) appear in the jungle, and are larger. Eventually, you continuously stumble into increasingly large reptiles, and the jungle is filled to the brim with the unholy monstrosities. Thankfully, they do die off quick, because larger reptiles are just "scaled" to be larger. I'll get more into the science of it in the article.
TL;DR: Big lizards get bigger when you comment on their size.
HOOK: The hook of the article would be the diaries of two young Brazilian adults who set up camp in the jungle for "vacation". Basically just looking for fun. In general, they know their stuff, and what bugs to avoid and what not. But they accidentally discover the phenomenon (although not understanding the phenomenon), and slowly they fill the jungle with amazingly gigantic reptiles, and of course they eventually get eaten.
IDEA 3: Vend-a-Friend
EXECUTION: Did I hear… Wondertainment? Creepy not-children that come in boxes and attempt to befriend kids? I think I did! It's exactly what it sounds like; creepy plastic not-children that are Wondertainment brand and try to befriend kids. They are slightly blue tinted, and move more fluidly than plastic should allow. Otherwise, they are actually very kid friendly, and do what they set out to do (as is classic Wondertainment brand). But they have a child brain inside them that acts as their "processor". Now, where did that come from?
TL;DR: Wondertainment brand child-friendly… children?
HOOK: The discovery log. The Vend-a-Friends are discovered after a truck with Wondertainment painted on the side of it is intercepted by Foundation personnel. Truck filled with food, water, toiletries, and various household appliances, not to mention a few Wondertainment brand toys (but just a few). Truck driver asked what it was, he said he was just paid to drive a truck to a given location (and freaks out because now he thinks he was tricked into drug trafficking or something). He is given amnestics, and a letter is found in the glove department. The letter is has no return address, but has "Wondertainment" stamped to it and gives an address for where it should go. Foundation personnel follow the address. Once they arrive, they are covered by heavy fire from one of the top windows. They slowly close in, and once the person in the window realizes he's losing, he retreats into the house. Foundation agents break down the door in time to hear child screams and 8 gunshots. Once explored, house has the dead bodies of 6 children and one grown man. They find other letters from Wondertainment in his room, and antidepressants and medication for schizophrenia in his bathroom. And in the basement, they find a weird device, and creepy defective versions of the Vend-a-Friends.
IDEA 4: Anti-Foundation Crystal Computers
EXECUTION: There have been three instances recorded; one is contained, another is neutralized, and a third is still out roaming the world, and they don't know where it is. Each of them are mannequin-like crystal "people" that run on "if, then" statements. They're essentially crystal robots, though how they are programmed is unknown. Most of what they know of them comes from the one they have contained, and the other ones they didn't have time to research further. All of them seem to be bent on taking down the Foundation, or at least their programmer is… The majority of the description would be describing the one they have contained. This one has a 1km radius of some sort of information gathering mechanism. It can then transmit this information to other sentient SCPs, detailing the ways that it can escape containment and bring other non-sentient skips with it. They found it in the ventilation systems of Site-XX after a major containment breach, where they lost X skips. The other ones, however, are more mysterious…
TL;DR: Crystal robots designed to take down the Foundation.
HOOK: The incident logs that describe the two other ones (and the discovery of the first one). The one in containment is specifically for breaking out skips, but there is a small one that can burrow through the earth and is remote controlled and used for espionage. They find it in a wall after searching the Foundation for the source of a radio signal coming from the Foundation. After being caught, it self destructs. The third one drops out of a passenger plain overhead and crashes into the site where the skips were broken out. It has effectively weaponized SCP-XXXX and takes down almost half of the site before the Foundation's military forces are sent in. Unfortunately, it is extremely durable, and once it realizes it is losing, it retreats into the woods. Due to its amazing speed, and other factors that the Foundation can only speculate, they lose it. The incident takes XX lives of Foundation staff.
So, which is the most intriguing, and which should I work on?
