My new idea is a memetic wooden block found in an elementary school. It causes people to only be able to write one syllable per word. For example the previous sentence would be "It cause is pea pull to own Lee be abe ill to write one sell a bill per word." And after a certain amount of time this effect would go to the spoken words. Let me know what you guys think about this idea.
D-class would be terminated early due to annoyance by researchers I'd think. But that's just what I think would be hilarious.
This would only work if it's a joke SCP.
A mainlist SCP having D-class terminated by researchers who were annoyed would acquire downvotes rather quickly; not only is it pretty rare for researchers to even have the authority to terminate a D-class, termination for something as petty as annoyance (which is really unprofessional as well) makes the Foundation look pretty dumb.
That would be a headache to read.

- I don't especially like puns.
- Doesn't actually appear to be memetic.
- Is at best an Anomalous Object as described. You usually need something that is more interesting beyond a simple description of an anomalous effect for a successful SCP.
How about it also affects already written material within a certain area. That would have to be a scip.
No, that is still just a weird effect.
Modern SCPs aren't just reports on objects, but stories in the form of reports on objects. A plague is boring - the story of a community trying to survive one is interesting. A sprite is boring - the story of some poor shmuck who weathers the daily mischeif caused by the sprite is interesting. Cthulhu is boring - the story of him trying to take a vacation at Pismo Beach without causing a mass panic is interesting.
In short, you're too focused on the object itself, when you should really look at how the object impacts the world. How do people respond to it? What does it say about the Foundationverse or society? Why does it exist at all?
To see what I mean, check out some Series II and III articles, and focus not on what the object is, but what happens over the course of the article.
Idea. How about the block is sentient and it communicates with people through creating one syllable words. I can probably make a story from that.
Dr Rignaros, instead of posting multiple comments in succession, you should edit your previous post using the "edit" function under the "options" tab to the lower right of every comment. That prevents spam buildup, and it's in the rules.
How about the block is sentient and it communicates with people
What does the block have to say? Also, I think you mean "sapient", unless you want the block to not be able to say much of substance?
I dunno. We've already got a lot of weird things that talk that normally shouldn't be able to talk. What does this block say that's interesting enough to make the reader care enough to read about it?
Screw it. I'm scrapping this idea for now and I'll work on someting else. I'll come back to this when I think of a way to make this good.
