I don't know if I already posted on the introduction forum. I can only remember, that I was once in the IRC channel and had some kind of awkward introduction, where I was given the name sharkbait or shartbail or something.
Well, that has been some years, in which I only lurked, while work on daily life ate away the majority of my time, therefore I neither had the time nor the inspiration to write an SCP on my own. I had some ideas, but after tossing them around in my head I deemed most of them shit for various reasons (one was a literal hell hole, some kind of a portal forming a lake of mouths, eyes and rotten flesh, held in check with extremely complicated containment procedures, and demonic entities emerging, when you succeeded to follow them (which then would have to be dispatched by MTF) and something worse happening, when you failed. Keter, of course. I just threw every "overpowered SCP" cliché in there…)
Anyway, the idea that stuck with me is that of a butterfly, that does displace any kind of matter in the same way it displaces air, effectively being able to fly through solid matter and re-arranging (i.e. destroying) it in the process. Containment procedures are simple: just have some directed fans, which hold it inside its enclosure with a steady air stream, and as a containment breach measurement an automated flame thrower unit, since its properties only show while the wings are intact.
Before you ask, yes, this SCP has some connection to my nick name. Both are somewhat inspired by the quantum weather butterflies thought up by the late Sir Terry Pratchett.
The problem is, that such ideas tend to involve, if I don't write them down. I felt something was missing, so I wanted to tie the butterflies to strange electrical atmospheric and weather phenomena near electrical infrastructures, where they would appear and had to be caught and contained (also part of the containment procedures).
Then, it seems, the Foundation in my head canon began to investigate this matter and found more SCPs and strange phenomena linked to this SCP. Some deformed, aggressive and pseudo-sentient plant life. Living blobs of flesh, that used to be deer. Somewhat stretched wild hogs with the dimensions of a giraffe. And some vaguely humanoid figure, often seen fleeing from such an event and likely responsible for it.
Now my question is: is the Quantum Butterfly strong enough to form an SCP on its own or should I add the other stuff my head made? Maybe only the atmospheric phenomena? I often need some restraints to get my ideas to work, so I am happy for any input, what should be reduced and what should be more fleshed out.
