Item #: SCP-2276
Object Class: Euclid (Contained)
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-2276 is contained in a 5m by 5m by 5m room with shatterproof mirrors completely covering the walls and floor. Multiple stage lights cover the roof and fill the room with bright light, enhanced by the mirrors. The reason for this is that it's the only way that we know of to weaken SCP-2276 enough to contain it. Personnel must be at least Level 4 to enter SCP-2276's containment. They should travel in groups of 5 or more and wear special gear that's been soaked in salt water for at least 13 hours. Eye protection is optional, but highly advised. Do not, under any circumstances, place paper or writing materials of any kind into SCP-2276's containment. Do not try to take pictures or record SCP-2276. Audio recordings are permitted, but must be given to Dr.[CLASSIFIED] immediately for further investigation. SCP-2276 does not require food or water as far as we know, so that is an invalid excuse to access SCP-2276's containment.
If any unauthorized personnel attempt to enter SCP-2276's containment, detain them immediately. They will be sent to to the nearest medical facility for a physical exam and psych evaluation. Thankfully, there are no accounts of any events similar to this happening in SCP-2276's case.
Description: SCP-2276 has no definitive shape, but takes the form of a red panda most of the time for an unknown reason. Its eyes always remain completely white with no pupils. They look like they've been drawn in with pencil due to lines similar to pencil strokes surrounding them. It's slightly transparent, but mostly black. Its appearance and form is extremely similar to a shadow. Its appearance and behavior has given it the now unused nickname "Ailurus Delirious"
When within a 1m radius of SCP-2276, some personnel have experienced extreme hallucinations, including visons of extreme torture and murder. These personnel then collapse, screaming in absolute horror. The creature produces a large, sharp-toothed smile with equal color, outline, and brightness to its eyes when personnel are under the effect of its hallucinations. The visions can be prevented by wearing clothing that's been soaked in salt water for at least 13 hours, or surrounding yourself in a circle of salt. Otherwise, SCP-2276 seems to be passive and lazy. It enjoys the company of others, but some have speculated that this is because it enjoys watching or inflicting pain in others.
SCP-2276 may be communicating with SCP-172, who's been reported drawing SCP-2276 in great detail. SCP-172 seems somewhat more tense as of late, which may be a result of communication with SCP-2276. They will both be monitored closely.
Discovery: One agent reported that his 5 year old son had been telling him of a shadow monster terrorizing him in his sleep. He'd apparently described moments of severe torture and murder in uncanny detail. At first, no one took the report seriously until the agent's son committed suicide via hanging. The agent said that he didn't own any rope. When the material of the rope was tested, the results were inconclusive. Agents then began searching the internet in hopes of finding more victims. They then found thousands of accounts who claimed to have been visited by SCP-2276 as children from birth to age 13. The stories they told all had the same patterns. After tracking SCP-2276 for 6 months, it was captured in Bedford, New Hampshire and then transported to the Foundation's containment center.
