Hello. I am extremely grateful to be able to join this site and I hope I can write some interesting (or not) SCPs in the future. Any helpful hints or constructive criticism is extremely helpful. I am currently 15 years old and live in 'Merica. BTW you can call me Anchor for short. I hope to be a great contribution to this site!
It's great you're interested in writing for the site! Make sure to create a sandbox page for yourself, and get any drafts you write up there shown to the IRC chat and/or the drafts forums for feedback before you post to the mainsite.
So far as helpful hints go, here are a couple:
- Remember, you're writing for an audience! The ultimate goal for an SCP article is to entertain the reader.
- Do your research! If you're writing an article that you want people to believe a scientist could have written, it's important to get the scientific things you reference correct.
- Use the How to Write an SCP guide, and reference the resources available to authors in the Guide Hub as necessary.
- Ask for help if you're unsure! When in doubt, double-check your facts. Questions about the writing process can be asked in the General Advice forum.
And of course, if you've got questions about the site, its policies, or have a general concern you'd like addressed, feel free to message a staff member.
Best of luck in your writing endeavors, and welcome to the site!
