Exactly what are you defining as SCP-2529? To me, it's not very clear whether the OCCURRENCE is SCP-2529, or whether it is something else entirely. Other than that, I like it. It's a good read.
Is the use of a fictional county here significant? Or is it just a literary conceit? Does Fordingham exist in the world of the story as ordinary and known geography?
Fictional county, mostly so I can avoid talking about real-world law enforcement agencies. In the world of the story, it is a real county in the State of Vermont, so it's not a Samothrace situation or anything.
Same here- it just doesn't ever click for me. Which is strange, because I generally enjoy Kalinin's stuff.
@ Kalinin: After thinking on this for a while, I think what I'm missing here is your usual "wheels within wheels" complexity and rich detail, which I really enjoy as a reader. It feels kind of like having a sandwich at a restaurant where you usually get a double decker cheeseburger with everything on it, if that makes sense.
Fair enough. Stick around, there'll always be cheeseburgers.
The phrase "SCP-2529 occurrence" is used several times, and it's confusing because it could refer to the unsolved murder, or the anomalous phenomenon affecting information about it.
Why not designate the occurance SCP-2529-1?
