To start, I thank you for allowing me onto this site. Now that that's out of the way, time for some semi-personal information. I've been lurking on this site for possibly over a year and it still never gets old. Every story has some facet to it that I might not have noticed that makes it so great. I've seen many talented writers on this site and figured that I'd try my hand. Hopefully none of my writing follies are too egregious, and if they are, that at least my writing will be improved. Since I'm in the transitional period of fresh out of High School and into College, I have quite a bit of time on my hands. I enjoy reading(obviously since this is a site based around stories) partaking in the use of sesquipedalianism ( sort of a word? close enough), playing video games, and running. That's about all great feats I can proclaim for now, so on with the show?
Hey there! Always nice to have a lurker join.
If you're thinking about becoming a site writer, you should first create a sandbox page to keep your in-progress works, references, or ideas in development at. When you've got a draft ready to be read, bring it to the IRC chat and/or the drafts forums for reviews so you can make the necessary edits before a mainsite post.
It's also a good idea to make use of the resources available to authors in the Guide Hub, as well as the General Advice forum if you have any questions about the writing process. If you'd like to polish up an idea or concept before committing to writing up a draft, that's what the Ideas and Brainstorming forum is for.
So far as reading goes, have you taken a look at any tales in addition to the SCP articles? Tales are where some of the best character development and worldbuilding happens on the site—the In His Own Image series, in particular, is an excellent introduction to the Foundation 'verse. (Also, shameless self-promotion here, but if you'd like some lighter slice-of-life, you can poke around Kiryu Labs.)
A friend of mine enjoys running. He's also about a foot taller than me. Are there any types of terrain you enjoy running in/at in particular?
Best of luck with your writing endeavors. Welcome to the site!
Yeah, I have read several tales such as the GOC, UIU, tales pertaining to several SCPs and some here and there stuff. I have to say, I love the UIU tales because of how their anomalous artifacts are things like talking records and a desert eagle with a very large clip. Running on any terrain is fine except steep hills, R.I.P my legs. Although to be fair I'm a distance runner so my version of running can kind of suck. What about you? Any hobbies?(aside from this site)I also want to thank you for taking the time to respond to my intro post, looking at it, it seems like it takes a pretty big chunk of time!
