I, currently, have attempted and failed to make decent SCPs, I require some help on how to write a decent SCP, like what should be present in the SCP file and stuff like that
Moved to General Advice as there is no draft for critique here.
In regards to the question being asked,
what should be present in the SCP file and stuff like that
The basic SCP article format has Special Containment Procedures and a Description. Most SCP articles posted these days also have addenda. That's pretty much the only "must have" across all successful SCP articles in terms of content; there's no magical "if you include these things" combination of factoids that will guarantee an article's success based on structure alone.
OP, have you read any recently-posted successful articles? Have you taken a look at their corresponding discussion threads to see what the readers liked and didn't like about the work?
I don't really read many SCPs….I never go into discussion nor do I intend to do so anytime soon
Then you're unlikely to be a successful author here, full stop.
Well Crap…Could you point me in the right direction for starting?
Read. Read a lot of SCPs. See what works, see what doesn't. The recent history for Top Rated Pages By Month 2016 is a good place to start.
If things look strange to you, ask about it in the comment pages. If there's a technique you like, figure out why it works. Think about the stories you want to tell. Do they compare with the stories in these articles?
Those are minimum first steps. Explore! Have fun!
Zyn already did: read many recently posted successful articles and their discussion threads. You can find them in the archives of Top Rated Pages This Month or the Site News. Alternatively you could find recently successful authors whom you like and read their author pages, many authors discuss process there, and even if they don't you can read through their corpus systemically.
Okay… you want help writing scips, but not to the ridiculous extreme of actually reading up on subject…
Maybe the best help in this case is self help. I'm not sure what assistance you'd receive if you're not able to invest in the basics, or if you give the impression that you're not prepared to - other than advice along the lines of "Read a lot of scips and check out the discussion pages to see what works"!
If I've misunderstood what you've said, sozzers.
I'm off to read SCPs and their respective discussion pages, I will probably come back to their Forum about grammar and better writing, I sort of suck at those two areas but I'm trying to improve
