So, have you ever been walking through an area you've walked through a million times, but something catches your eye? Something's different. Perhaps it's a tree peaking from behind your home; You could have sworn that it wasn't there before. Yet there it is, as if it had been there forever. You shrug it off and continue with your day and eventually forget about it.
The SCP would be a species of shape shifting sentient entities that reside in urban areas. They are nocturnal and rest by assuming the form of an innocuous object during the day. They'd be extremely difficult to detect because everyone disregards them. While not overtly hostile toward humans, they are mildly territorial. Small skirmishes between packs or individuals of them can result in damage to infrastructure and property, such as causing brief power outages. These creatures could even have an entire society passively coexisting with humans in urban areas, where they thrive.
I feel like the Foundation would attempt to contain these shape shifting anomalies. Perhaps over time, the Foundation could displace entire populations. The scip would resort to hiding in places it wouldn't normally hide, maybe even becoming defensive against humans. This would of course perpetuate the Foundation's containment. The scip cant survive in the wilderness. They were born and bred to feast on the garbage of modern cities. The Foundation would inadvertantly be driving the species into extinction.
Sorry if this is just a mess of ideas. It's just what I have so far.
Has this sort of thing been done before? What are your thought? Suggestions?
