This isn't going to be a very elaborate post, I'll just do a quick introduction and I'm not going to bother with any formatting because I'm feeling lazy right now. Hello all, I'm a guy who came across this site fairly recently and thought it would be a nice place to visit occasionally and contribute to. It's exactly the sort of site I've been looking for: pages upon pages of fascinating (and creepy!) information. My dream, essentially. Anyway, I'm looking forwards to being a part of this community and contributing to the lore behind The Foundation. I probably won't be on a huge amount, what with schoolwork and all, but I'll try to get on at some point to get some of my ideas down onto virtual paper. See you around!
If you're thinking about becoming a site writer, you should first create a sandbox page to keep your in-progress works, references, or ideas in development at. When you've got a draft ready to be read, bring it to the IRC chat and/or the drafts forums for reviews so you can make the necessary edits before a mainsite post.
We also have the Ideas and Brainstorming forum, where you can get feedback on SCP article or tale concepts before you start drafting. Given that there are thousands of articles on the site, this step can help ensure that what you've got is unique!
In the meantime, you can also poke around others' forum threads and article discussion sections, to see how the community reacted to different pieces. The chat is also a great place to watch experienced writers give real-time crit.
