Have you ever wondered what it would be like if the Foundation did exist, what if you worked at the Foundation? Would you work at the Foundation? And what department would you like to be in?

yes. and this manifests in my writing.
I'd have Dr. Mark Kiryu's job. At least, his current one. Processing low-concern anomalous objects and working with new staff members on the small stuff. Plenty of out-of-site assignments, handling relatively harmless objects, hanging out with other nerds and their grumpy pet bearded dragon.
It's not hard to imagine me heading into the Foundation. I'm working on my Ph.D. in human factors psychology, which is about how human capabilities and limitations come into play when they interact with technological systems… Basically.
Human-computer-interaction and automation are big deals in HF (if not my specialty), so I'd probably end up in AIAD. Or maybe RAISA, or memetics/infohazards. It'd be fun to study how memes piggyback onto human cognition.
- A little firefighting experience
- A little mechanical/electrical experience
- A terrible work ethic
- Increasingly poor prospects of earning a degree
- Barely above-average firearms experience
Therefore, as of right now, I'm qualified to be
- A janitor
- A D-Class
- Totally ignorant of the Foundation forever
You've got it all wrong! Your skillset perfectly qualifies you to be a loveable mess of a Field Agent or UIU in one of the more absurdist/self-aware tales series.
My guess would be either "POI-xxxx-1, believed to be the creator of SCP-xxxx…" and/or "retained indefinitely at site-██ as an auxiliary consultant on anomalous phenomena". Mostly because if there were anomalous phenomena, between my compulsive curiosity and creativity, my whimsical approach to life, and my deep devotion to the art of kludging, I would probably have left a trail of Eric-type anomalies in my wake by this point.
If the foundation actually existed and I found out about it, I'd likely become very paranoid of my family and friends running into creatures/locations/artifacts with anomalous properties. In this universe, tons of Keter class creatures exist and are major threats to humanity. Hell even some Euclid class creatures could spell doom for humanity.
Love and light to all.

If the foundation was real, this thread wouldn't exist because no one would know about the existance of it…
Except for the occasional SCP-682 containment breach and millions dying because of it…
No wait. It was a gas leak! Of course! It must have been the gas leak must that caused me to hallucinate a 60 foot tall death lizard that crushed my home and ate my children! Silly gas leak!
I drew this avatar! Fear me!
I'd have a feeling that the characters of that universe would go insane when they crossed over into our reality.
Also, has anyone seen "In the Mouth of Madness"? Because I could imagine that happening (sort of) with the Foundation. I haven't seen it yet, but from the looks of it, It looks like a good film.
As much as I would love some sort of prostegious position such as Senior Researcher or some such title, I would very likely be some IT technician with brilliant ideas that no one wanted to listen to. (If it was permissible, I would also be a member of various committees, just because I have a desire to know what's going on, and give my opinion.)
