It's a being that can universally considered absolutely hideous by all living things, but it can only be contained through flattery. It's a polymorph, so that's why it can universally considered hideous. if someone said that it's disgusting after seeing it, it'll teleport and immediately kill the person. Thoughts?
It's a polymorph
Is your inspiration red dwarf?
No, it is not. I've heard of the show, but i've never watched it.
cat and dog lover, something I've noticed with many of your drafts and ideas is that you are simply too focused on what the SCP is and does, rather than how the SCP impacts or relates to the world. And no, merely killing someone due to a specific criteria is not am impact or relation to the world.
Simply put, you are too focused on individual trees to see if the forest is self-sustaining.
Modern SCPs typically aren't just reports on objects, but stories in the form of reports on objects. They have a significance beyond, say, just being a random monster.
If you want to write a monster SCP, look at horror films. Yes, each one has a unique monster, but the best films focus on how the victims are trying to survive. How they react, if they can trust each other, history they have between them or the monster… all of these factor into how much we care if and when the victim gets hanged by their entrails. The movies aren't about the monster so much as they are about the victims.
Similar is true with simple object SCPs. Lord of the Rings, as a SCP, would be a short report on the One Ring and the massive suppliment on how Agents Frodo and Biblo Baggins recovered it, and also neutralized it. Stargate as a SCP would have a short description on the Stargate itself, and a series of explorations and background data on how the Goa'uld was using it as a way to run an interstellar empire. 2001: A Space Oddesy would be entirely the report on an attempt to physically contain a far-flung extraterrestrial anomalous object.
Same is true here. Just giving us the SCP is generally only half an article. Without knowing how it relates to the world around it, trying to get the reader to care about the SCP is incredibly difficult. From what I've seen, it usually takes a truly unusual base idea to work without supporting material, and only when paired with vivid imagry conjured through the description and addenda.
Until you start looking at it that way, not just "what does SCP look like and act like" but also "how does this SCP affect the world around it?", you probably won't get much further than you are right now. You might strike gold with a base idea, but the chance of that happening is remote at best.
Long story short, how do you want this SCP to umpact the world? Why does it react so negatively to bad remarks? Where did it come from? What was it like back where it came from? How did it come here? Answering these questions will flesh out your idea, and likely provide more potential points to expand on.
Thank you for your input. I honestly have trouble creating storylines for these beings. I can easily pump out beings like they're nothing, but I struggle with creating a decent storyline.
