I was wondering, i have several times read about the department of Anti-Memetics, but only in tales, not in a SCP, i was wondering if it is because they remain a secret part of the foundation, or if it's just because they get forgotten every so often?
Also, what would your thoughts be on using them as part of a SCP?
Thanks you guys =D
I have actually been actively searching for them, i just couldn't find them in a SCP (maybe i forgot). But this will help me tremendously with the SCP i am working on =)
I don't think it's ever explicitly stated that they're hidden on purpose. For my canon, mostly based on conjecture from "We Need To Talk About 055", I don't think they're hidden on purpose like the anti-Samothrace faction, I just think trying to maintain a visible presence probably ended up being more of a hassle than it was worth. If the only place you can store your entire field of research is in the head of a human on mnestics and can't even rely on the guy at the pharmacy counter to remember your drugs exist, I imagine they have enough trouble keeping people from turning thier offices into broom closets.
I actually have trouble with this in writing; Since I assume that the majority of the Foundation doesn't know about antimemetics, I'm hesitant to put mnestics in my containment procedures, even when they make sense, unless one of those groups is explicitly involved.
I completely understand your reservations regarding putting the antimimetic division and mnestics in there. I am currently writing Skip with antimemetic properties, and part of the Skip involves that the foundation doesn't know of the antimemetic properties until some time into testing. After that i want the anti mimetic department to take over testing, though i make no mention of mnetics, since they are not needed to contain the Skip.
However, is it correct to assume that the entirety of senior staff at the antimimetic division is probably on mnetics? Because if so, that could actually be a problem for them regarding my Skip.
All personnel capable of remembering that the Antimemetics Division or the Counterconceptual Division exists are on mnestic treatment.
Is that Canon or an opinion? :-)
There is no canon.
However if you want continuity with prior art, it is clear from We Need to Talk About Fifty-Five that mnestics are required to remember that the Division exists. Mutual invisibility implies the same about CD.
You bring up good points :)
I hope that you will critique my SCP when it is done, since you appear to know a lot about antimemetics. :D
since it is my first SCP i don't have high expectations, but i am trying my damn hardest atm, and it will hopefully be done (the draft that is) tonight. Then i will figure out how much of the Antimemetics lore i will use :)
Well I wrote a thing. I'm not qntm though.
My skip is up as a full draft now, if you are interested :-)
