Item #: SCP-2384
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-2384 is to be contained at Site-██ in a 1.5m x 1m x 0.5m holding room equipped with bright lighting. SCP-2384 must be placed on a steel, circular table with a diameter of 1 meter. Temperature in holding chamber must be kept at 14 degrees celsius at all times. SCP-2384's holding chamber must be covered in ████████ a highly rare chemical found only in ████, █████. SCP-2384 must be set in the exact center of the circular table in it's holding cell. SCP-2384's holding chamber must be re-coated with ████████ once every month by personnel of level 3 clearance or higher. All personnel, upon entry of SCP-2384's chamber must travel with other personnel at all times upon entry. Personnel inside SCP-2384's containment chamber must come never come in contact with SCP-2384's table, or the floor of the containment chamber. [UPDATE] Due to the recent discovery of SCP-2384-J, SCP-2384 must be kept under constant 24/7 surveillance and have guards positioned outside of SCP-2384's holding chamber at all times.
Description: SCP-2384 is a dark green key made of ████, a highly toxic chemical substance found only in ███████, ██████████████. The key was found in what is believed to be the home of Zeno, inventor of Zeno's paradox and renowned philosopher. SCP-2384 is an embodiment of Zeno's paradox, which is the theory that motion is not possible. This was later disproven due to the discovery of other forces such as friction and gravity which made motion possible. The theory's explanation was that before you could go a distance, you must go half of it, and before you can go half of the distance, you must go half of half of the distance, etc. Anyone who touches the same floor that the key is on will be subjected to this paradox, forced to keep walking for the rest of their human lives. SCP-2384, if successfully retrieved and used to unlock a door, will immediately summon SCP-2384-J, a humanoid entity which, since it's discovery, currently randomly appears inside SCP-2384's holding chamber, where it will proceed to try to escape. SCP-2384-J has proven capable of speech. SCP-2384-J has also been observed to prove enormous intellectual capabilites, and can solve any puzzle, or academically directed question in under 5.8 seconds. SCP-2384-J is exactly 1 meter tall, and 0.3 meters wide.
Incident 13-█-5: On █/██/████, Capt. ███████ came in contact with the floor of SCP-2384's containment chamber, and was therefore caught in the paradox. He was killed within 2 hours of the incident, and his body was removed for testing.
Addendum 12.4.09.b: SCP-2384 was removed from containment on ██/██/████ for Experiment 34-███-█████.
Audio Log from Interview 2384-J-1:
Interviewer: Dr. █████████
Foreword: SCP-2384-J, upon discovery, was taken to a testing facility for an interview.
Dr. █████████: So, what exactly are you?
SCP-2384-J: What am I, you ask? Who are you, I ask?
Dr. █████████: My name is Dr. █████████. Yours?
SCP-2384-J: Why, I simply cannot recall! The information seems to have slipped from my mind!
Dr. █████████: Well, can you tell me about the key which you came from?
SCP-2384-J: Why, most definitely not!
Dr. █████████: Please specify why.
SCP-2384-J: Honestly, I don't understand why you would want to know!
Dr. █████████: [An exasperated sigh is heard from Dr. █████████] I would like to know because we are doing research on the key, and evidently you know something about the key that we don't.
[A four (4) minute period of silence occurs]
SCP-2384-J: Doctor, I think that research is the key to discovery, or vice versa, but I don't think that you should "discover" the key's secrets. This is the last word of advice I will give. Goodbye.
[Subject then vanishes]
Request 2384-J-1: Dr. █████████, █ days after his interview with SCP-2384-J, requested to take the SCP in for testing. Request Denied.
