So, if you were to work in the Foundation, what job would you want to have? Answers can range from D-Class to O5.
I'll start by saying that I would probably be a researcher/lab assistant involved with processing Anomalous Items because it seems way less dangerous/horrifying than most of the other jobs, and it seems like it would be interesting working with all the Anomalous Items.
Probably a Level-2/3 guard. I already know how to use a couple guns, including the most probable type the Foundtion would use, and I feel like standing around or walking a Class-D down a hall seems like the perfect job for me. Already the chances of a breach are extremely low unless you are in the site that for some odd reason decided to house 682 and 079 in the same facility, you are good. I still question the logic of what I assume to be Site-19 in SCP:CB. "Let's just house all the most dangerous SCP objects in one facility that already is a maze. Then lets put the Heavy Containment Zone right next to the Entrance Zone so all of the breached, extremely dangerous, SCP objects just head right outside and see the open world." I mean… Why?
I mean… Why?
Easier to design a game that way, and more fun for a player if all the interesting stuff is in the same-ish place.
I used to volunteer in a hospital that had a substantial number of relevant rooms I needed to access underground. Had to go through tunnel-like hallways to get from place to place. No windows, obviously. Once I had a near-nightmare (more from frustration than fear content, really) that I had to run errands in the place while all the elevators were down. Too much travel distance!
I am qualified for at most various Level 0 jobs in front operations, and also for custodial jobs, low level physical security, and laboratory assistant.
Guard.
I just feel like that'd suit me best. Standing around, only doing anything or participating when something actually important happens.
Engineer for airplane based anomalies, mostly. And if those don't exist, I'd probably be a level 0 custodian.
Only nerds have signatures
Disinformation Bureau.
I would probably be a lab assistant for some guy working on low-danger anomalies. I have practically no qualifications for any likely job the Foundation has, and that's the best I could do without being D-Class. I could be a writer for the Foundation, assuming that I could write stuff for use in anomalous narrative shenanigans that benefit the Foundation.
I write stuff. Yipee.
You probably could work retail for one of the front operations.
Scruffy, the Janitor.
I'd be IT support. Even world-encompassing paramilitary organizations need IT people. I can guarantee some poor sap will have trouble printing from Word.
Guard, likely unarmed unless they provide on-site training for an armed security detail.
Or a researcher working with archaeological-based SCPs.
I personally like to believe that they would arm and train them. They're guarding some of the most dangerous objects and entities in the world.
Is this the job you would be qualified for, or the job you would want? If it's the former, probably a containment engineer. Not exactly what I do now, but most of the skills would be transferable.
If it's the job I want, probably something where I can sit around and read about anomalies all day. Archival duties, or an editor with an internal Foundation scientific journal. Probably a pay scale or three down, but much more enjoyable.
I meant for this to be the job you want, but people have been answering for both.
