Before I go any further, I would like to say that none of this was my idea at all. This was ENTIRELY my friends idea. And please, for the love of god, do not try to recreate anything we did. Don’t make the mistake we made, for your own sake.
My name? Well, I’m Damon. But I ain’t telling my full name given the situation I’m in. Now, let me introduce you to my “friend”. I mean friend in the lightest way possible, I pretty much have to hang out with him. Our parents are friends, so they make me talk to him all the time. His name is Josh. As normal as his name sounds, he’s anything but normal. He’s one of those tinfoil hat wearers who believe in reptilian shape-shifters. I might sound like I’m joking. I wish I was, but I’m not. And my moms makes me hang out with this kid. It isn’t fun. He tells me all these weird theories he comes up with at school, and they’re too ridiculous for me to even tell you about.
It was two in the morning on a Saturday. My parents where going to be gone for two weeks (because my Aunt was throwing some adult-only party.), so I had the house to myself. I was sleeping fine, until I was woken up by the sound of a Skype ringtone. I was expecting it to be my brother, who's overseas in Sweden for some college trip, but I was annoyed to find that it was Josh instead. At two in the morning. Does this kid have any consideration for others?
I answered the phone.
“J, it’s 2 AM. What do you want right now?”
“Dude, you need to see this!” He said.
“Go to bed. I don’t wanna waste time with your conspiracies.”
“No, I swear to god, it’s real!”
His voice sounded excited, like he had just struck gold.
I put my hands over my face. This kid’s insane. But I listened anyway. And that’s where I should’ve stopped. If I had hung up, everything would be okay.
“What? Obamas a gecko?”
“No. So, I was surfing [SITE CENSORED], alright? And I find this weird page.”
“Yeah. So I decided to continue. It had this weird logo on it, like a shield with arrows. It’s hard to describe. But it’s for some top-secret organization called ‘The SCP Foundation’.”
The SCP Foundation? What the hell is this?
“Send me a link.”
“Alright, should be sending.”
I heard the click of his mouse.
I got a quick notification. I clicked the link, and was greeted with a rather peculiar screen. It showed the icon Josh described, and just below it said:
THE FOUNDATION DATABASE IS CLASSIFIED
ACCESS BY UNAUTHORIZED PERSONNEL IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED
PERPETRATORS WILL BE TRACKED, LOCATED, AND DETAINED
Below that where a whole bunch of links, for different levels of security I’d assume. The website looked like it hadn’t been updated in years, like it was created back in 2010.
“J, are you sure this is safe? It says it’ll track us down.”
“Just use incognito mode or something.”
I nearly face palmed after hearing this.
“That’s… Not how. Never mind. Lets do this.”
I clicked the “LEVEL 2 PERSONNEL” link, and I saw this whole list of various codes. They all started with the capital letters “SCP” and ended with a number combination.
“Josh what is this?”
“I dunno, but it’s supposed to be classified. Click one of the codes. Lets find out.”
I scrolled through it looking at various codes, until I clicked on one that said “SCP-106”. Now, I don’t even think I can explain all the freaky shit I saw. It was terrifying. All I remember reading is that it’s this sort of black figure that corrodes everything, and it goes through walls. It was contained by this organization. I clicked off that one, and kept scrolling through, reading various entries, disgusted and traumatized by the pages I was reading. All these strange objects… They where contained by this one organization, kept secret from the public. I just got done reading some others and scrolling through the list, and I was about to place my finger on SCP-2000. I tapped the link, and my phone went dark. Skype stopped working, and my phone screen pretty much had a seizure.
“What in Gods name did I just read?” is all I could think about. A few seconds later I heard my laptop start ringing. Josh called me on Skype.
“Why’d you hang up?”
“That weird ass website crashed my phone.”
“What the hell?”
“Yeah man. Scary as balls. Saw some weird shit.”
“This creepy ass thing… It goes through walls… Man, I don’t wanna think about this. Can I go to bed?”
“Yeah… We can talk about this tomorrow. Imma stay up and read some more of it, alright?”
“Alright dude. See you tomorrow.”
I hung up. That night, I got absolutely no sleep. Every time I closed my eyes, all I could see was that figure… It’s horrifying eyes… Even when I did somewhat fall asleep, I had a nightmare that it had broken into my home. Was that website real? Maybe it was just some joke website made to freak people out. Maybe it was just some creepy pasta website.
The blinding sun shined through my shades in the morning, lighting my room up. I put my knife on the floor (I kept it next to me all night, just in case.) and checked my laptop. 4 messages from Josh. They read, in order:
“I got some new information”
“It’s a real thing, no joke.”
“They have a site just on the edge of town, near the hills.”
“Call me tomorrow. We can go to the site.”
I was considering that he might be lying, but eh. Who knows. I gave him a call, waiting eagerly for the guy to pick up. He finally picked up.
“Hey J. You said they have a site?”
“Yeah… So, this organization has these outposts all over the globe.”
“And they just so happen to have one around here - just near the edge of town. Coordinates are [CENSORED]. Just in the hills out of town. Supposedly they contain things there.”
“…How’d you find all this?”
"Looking at a map they have, it shows the location of a few sites."
“Maybe we can ride our bikes there?”
J sighed, and I did too. Did we really wanna piss with a top secret organization? What if we where just wasting our time, and its a fake?
“I dunno… We probably shouldn’t go this deep down the rabbit hole.” I said to J.
“Come on. It might be fun.”
“True, true. Lets do this at 12.”
I hung up and ate breakfast as fast as I could, and waited for around 11:30. I played Call of Duty to pass the time. Finally, the clock struck 11:30. I got on my bike and rode over to Josh’s house, texting him from my laptop before I left. I couldn’t use my phone still. That site messed it up, practically bricked it.
Was a few minutes before I got to Josh’s house. He was already waiting outside on his bike. “Hey D.” He said.
“Hey Josh. How are we gonna get there?”
“We gotta bike to the edge of town and get on a dirt road.”
“Alright. How are we actually gonna find the place?”
“I got a map on my phone, leads to a park near it.”
“Wait, hows your phone still working after viewing the site?”
“I used my computer, virtual machine.”
“I shoulda just let you go on instead. My phone got bricked.”
“Yea, enough chat. Lets go, dude.”
“Wait. Are we absolutely sure we want to go?”
“Oh my god. We already discussed this. Lets gooooo!.”
“Alright, fine. But if we die it’s your fault.”
We picked up our feet and biked down the street. The whole ride was pretty long with nothing but small talk and us talking about what we’d do if we where right. I’m not going to go into detail, because it was boring. After 40 minutes of pedaling, we finally reached a dirt road. There was a gate in front of the road, with a “NO TRESPASSING” sign. Both of us stopped abruptly and looked to each other.
“This is our last chance. Do we really want to know whats behind here? I mean, I’m already a little freaked out by this. We could even get killed.” Josh replied;
“Now or never. We came all this way, we might as well.”
“Let’s hide our bikes in the bushes. We don’t want anyone knowing we’re here.”
Both of us threw our bikes behind the bushes, and tried climbing the fence. Barbed wire. Josh pulled out his leatherman, and started to cut at the fence. “Woah woah woah! What the f***?!”
“What? I always keep it with me.”
“No! We’re not supposed to let anyone know we’re here!”
“You’re cutting the fence! Leaving evidence!”
“No ones going to notice until we’re far away. Besides, unless you got another way, this is it.”
I put my hand over my head. Josh was really stressing me out.
“Okay, I guess you’re right, but be quick. We could get arrested, or worse.”
He cut a hole out of the fence, and we rushed in, immediately hiding in the bushes. We slowly crept near the dirt road, whispering to each other about what might be at the end of the road, and making Metal Gear Solid references to help loosen the tension. We where interrupted by the sound of a voice over a radio, and foot steps. We lowered down into the bushes and tracked the sound. It looked like a guard. He wore forest camo, and his vest was packed with different ammunition magazines, all kinds of different gear and electronics. There was a rifle in his hands, a big one with all kinds of scopes and attachments. He was wearing a face shield too, we couldn’t see his face. The back of his vest had that logo we had been seeing. The one with the arrows and shield. We made sure to keep away from him.
Not only where we now messing with an armed organization, but this also proved that the freaky shit I saw - it’s real. Both of us tried our best to remain calm, and stay low in the bushes. We eventually got to the point where we couldn’t hear anyone talking,
and we settled into the bushes to discuss what we saw.
“Did you see that guy? He looked like he meant business.”
“Yeah, I’m having second thoughts.” I peaked over the bushes to make sure we where safe.
“We could die. We need to be careful.”
“Careful? No. We need to leave.”
“Too late to turn back.”
The distant sound of truck engines was audible. It grew louder every second. A pair of headlights was visible in the distance. Both of us ducked and hid ourselves from the incoming convoy. About 5 trucks, all black, armored and painted with that logo passed by. The one in the middle seemed like a transport, while the other 4 where more like escorts. We crawled along the line of bushes and trees until we got to the end. All 5 cars where at a checkpoint.
The gate of the checkpoint opened to let the cars in, and my urge to turn back increased. The further we went, the scarier this organization seemed. First theres an armed guard, and now a group of armored vehicles? Damn, wow. If they find us, we’re dead. A few moments later we neared the checkpoint. “How the hell are we gonna get through?” rushed across my mind, until suddenly, the guards radio jumped to life.
“Any and all guards on duty please report to section 4. Repeat, all guards on duty, please report to section 4. Breach in the fence detected, we may have intruders. Please stay on alert.”
The guard at the checkpoint grabbed his rifle and spoke into his radio.
“Dutch, take my spot. I have to investigate a breach.”
He got a response.
“Roger, be there in 5.”.
The guard sprinted past us, and we dashed under the checkpoint as soon as we saw him leave. We had to be quick before the other guard arrived to take his spot. My heart was pounding. I felt like a Navy SEAL on an infiltration mission or something, knowing that one mistake could end my life. Josh looked at me.
“Do you think they’ll catch us?” He asked.
“Not if we’re careful.”
We followed the dirt road up to a clearing. We where suddenly stopped by a book on the ground. Someone must've dropped it on their way in. It was covered in dirt, but we picked it up anyway. We dusted it off. The title read “INDEX” in all caps, and it had that logo on it. I opened up to the first page, the table of contents. It was the codes I saw on the website.
The image got blurry and distorted, my printer was acting up.
We saw more articles in the book. One called “D-Class” that I found particularly horrifying. The Organization takes Death Row inmates and uses them as guinea pigs. Forcing them to do tasks like test these anomalous objects, while promising that they’ll be released into the free world in the end. They don’t release them. They execute them.
We where about to read more before we where spotted. We heard a stern voice yell “Hey, what the hell do you think you’re doing?!” My heart stopped. I looked up to see a group of heavily armed guards pointing their rifles at us. Josh and I had no second thoughts. I grabbed the book and we ran. Faster than Usain Bolt, all the way down while bullets flew past us. I was fearing for my life, and I could tell Josh was too.
We made it to the fence, and bursted through the hole we made when we entered. There where guards nearby, but we where so quick that by the time they noticed us, we where gone. We kept running, and stopped once we reached the end of the dirt road. We picked our bikes out of the bushes and pedaled as fast as we could. We didn’t say anything, we barely even looked at each other. We just focused on speeding home. But our Foundation experience didn’t end. As we neared Josh’s home, we could make out flashing lights. Then we noticed a group of large cars parked in front of his house. As we got closer, we realized what it was. It was the SCP Foundation, hunting Josh down. We turned around and went back to my house, because Josh’s family is completely f***ed now.
We threw our bikes to the side of my house and ran inside, almost instantly reaching the basement. We locked every door, closed every blind, and turned off all the lights. We where shaking.
“What happened?!” Josh asked.
“They’re looking for us!” I said.
“Do you think they’ll search here next!?” Josh asked. His voice sounded like a nervous wreck.
“I don’t know! We just have to remain calm. We need to stay down here and come up with a plan. We ONLY go upstairs if it’s necessary, okay? And even then, be absolutely careful. We can’t have them see us here.”
We tried our best to relax, but we ended up discussing what we saw the whole night.
Josh and I spent the remainder of the night in the basement. Right now, it’s 4 in the morning. I heard the sound of talking outside not too long ago, accompanied by the sound of those large truck engines. We’re making plans to escape and head out of town, but it might be too late…
Please, for your own sake, don’t do what we did… We made the mistake of wanting to answer the unknown. Please… Just let sleeping dogs lie…
We have found the book that the subject stated he found. He had posted scans of it on social media, but they where quickly taken down by the Foundation Cyber Security Division. A cover story involving a murder was placed in the headlines to cover up this incident. We're installing new camera's at the site. Apparently, we can't be comfortable with security anymore. - Site Administrator ███.
