Item #: SCP-3002
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3002 is to be kept suspended in liquid helium within a containment cube of interior dimensions 3.0m x 3.0m. The walls of said cube are to be a thickness of no less than 1.5 m, with alternating layers of carbon aerogel, cork, and vacuum pore aluminum.
SCP-3001’s containment cube is to be held within a total anechoic chamber held at vacuum pressure, maintaining sound levels of no more than -20.0 dBA at all times. Chamber is be kept in total darkness, seismically isolated, as well as insulated against all forms of external electromagnetic radiation.
Entrance to aforementioned chamber is restricted to level 5 personnel and is to be only carried out when monitoring equipment receive any signs of seismic activity. Cleared personnel are to be equipped with (Extreme Low Kelvin) ELK suits, maintaining outward temperature emissions of no more than −269 °C (-452.2 °f).
SCP-3002 containment and observation is currently maintained at facilities < 66.5° S Latitude
Description: SCP-3002 is biologically a mid-twenties Caucasian male; 177.8 (5’10”) cm tall, 76.2 kg (168 lbs). Skin tone varies in colouration, with most recent observations noting it to be an even unreflective black. Distinguishing of current features and overall shape is presently impossible under containment procedures.
SCP-3001 for all extensive purposes is an organic embodiment of a zero-point energy system. Item’s anomalous condition began to develop with the onset of puberty, where SCP-3002's biological family reported sudden temperature drops in proximity to the subject as well as mild numbness upon prolonged contact. Foundation personnel were notified of SCP-3002’s condition when a routine medical examination revealed subject’s core temperature was that of 4.0 °C, compared to normal body temperature of 37.0 °C (98.6 °F). Designation of subject threat level at the time was safe as no threat was yet obvious.
SCP-3002’s condition continued to increase in severity until the mid-July 19██, where subject’s core temperature suddenly dropped to −273.15 °C (−459.67 °F) while on a family road trip. As a result, the family of SCP-3002 immediately perished due to hypothermic shock and internal haemorrhaging. SCP-3002, through the traumatic stress of this event, proceeded to undergo total psychological breakdown, wherein SCP-3002 was now to be classified as a Keter threat. SCP-3002 at this point in time was to not be considered under self–control, and is acting under what is to be termed “thermal instinct”.
The effects of SCP-3002’s “thermal instinct” is its inexorable attraction to areas of high enthalpy concentration, simply put, areas of human population.
This lead to multiple events of human loss of life, where all victims where siphoned of any and all kinetic energy; many of which were rendered down to leather-like husks.
Additional Notes: SCP-3002 was finally captured after luring into the aforementioned containment cube via emergency flares. However, this was not before being a leading cause of the Montreal event where [REDACTED], resulting in over 30 casualties and 900 injuries. At this point in time, SCP-3002 was observed as a humanoid shaped mass of "pure blackness", becoming a perfect energy siphon. Subject was immediately relocated to Antarctic facility.
SCP-3002 has been classified as a possible world ending threat if left unconstrained. Able to absorb all forms of energy, SCP-3002 is an effective black hole for energy transference sans the extreme gravity. As such, it must be isolated from any form of energy, even light, as otherwise is would immediately become active once more; escaping from containment. Attempts at destruction have been discontinued after [REDACTED], as any form of interaction is met with immediate nullification effects and total kinetic absorption.
Addendum 3001-1: Previous head of observation on SCP-3002, Dr.W████, has been terminated from employment after the serious proposal of sending the subject into the sun to hopefully over saturate SCP-3002’s energy sink capacity.
Notes: Are you fucking kidding me? What ass thinks it's a good idea strapping what is the equivalent to the cold death of the universe, on a 200 decibel plus rocket with the energy output of a small nuke and sending it into the most thermally rich body in the solar system? Did the probable stopping of fusion and implosion of the sun not cross his mind, if 3002 didn’t die? Let alone the fact it would be impossible to contain it once we even fired up the engines.
