Entry for June Short Story Contest: Marshall, Carter, and Dark, ltd. Not that great, but I liked the idea, and it kept bugging me until I wrote it down.

I like it. The main character seems rather devoid of characterization, but given the brief length of the story I'll let it slide. Overall very nice. Liked seeing Carter in the flesh.
Or at least someone claiming to be Carter.
I think him being devoid of characterization is sort of the point…he is, for all intents and purposes save one, completely, totally, average. Average height, average build, average marks in school, hair-colored hair….Except he has Wolverine's Healing Factor.
So, it ends with MCD Ltd. harvesting an endless supply of organs, and presumably selling them on the black market where they save people's lives. I admit having no morals doesn't mean you won't do good things, but it still seems like an uncharacteristically happy ending.
I suppose this is sort of an inversion of Inferred Holocaust.
We know for a fact that he isn't normal. What's there to say that his kidneys are normal (read: not Cthulhu in disguise)?
I approve of this rather a lot. The idea, the execution…it's fantastic. Also, i don't see them just selling the organs on the black market…rather, they reserve them for their members of Platinum level or higher…
It's not likely that they'd be able to sell them for much more than black market prices. After all, there's nothing stopping Platinum members from buying organs on the black market.
