Even something as simple as a shy, murderous statue… can be worked in so many different ways.
In my imagination, 173 would get pretty bored of its unrestricted power to kill people if everyone in the world was blind. So it would take up a hobby like interpretive dance or painting or something really silly that no one could appreciate without eyes.
Just kidding. It just wouldn't need to run so fast to get you now.
Yaknow, there was no need to make it an alternate scenario kind of thing. You could have just made it into an end-of-Foundation scenario and left it at that since there is no canon.
I was implying coverup rather than alternate scenario, honestly
Or, you know, not. Any Foundation-end scenario is inherently non-canon to begin with. (please do not use this as an excuse to write five different SCPs that end the Foundation in different ways)
Oh jeez. I like all of this, and like it even more towards the end where people panic, Gears remains calm, there's the scraping, and audio cuts out… and then we've got the 'prank' cover-up at the end.
This is excellent, and upvoted.
How the world will end:
And so Dr. Gerald began the experiment, tying a blindfold around SCP-173.
You do realize that 173 is, in fact, a statue and as such cannot see anyways?
By that logic, it can't detect when you blink and murder you either.
Or, you know, move.
By your logic, it can't tell when you blink if you aren't facing the front of it.
