I commented on the page's comments, but I realized I was responding to a two-year-old comment, so I figured I'd put something here:
The first link on the How To Write An SCP page is, as we all know, the Big List of SCP Cliches page. For a first page a newbie'll read, it's crud.
'Fightan Good'? 'mindz'? I can go on and on. It's AOLSpeak on a site that otherwise refrains (or actively looks down on) that sort of typing. It reinforces bad traits and behaviors, rather than good ones. If people here really have a hard-on for the the idea that it's 'intentionally' written, it can be buried at the bottom of that page where people don't deal with it. But Bibs!, you say, We want people to read it! We link to it a lot!. So fix it so that it's consistent with the other Newbie Articles. Wouldn't be too hard.
Another suggestion I'd make is to list some examples of why (in the form of SCP links) we don't need any more of said type. The too-many-cats cliche? Link to SCP-529, SCP-607, and SCP-856, or something. Don't have to do it with all of them, or every example, but one or two might work.
