Hello. After a binge of The Twilight Zone, House of Leaves, the Voynich Manuscript, Arkham Horror and Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth, the SCP foundation seemed like a natural progression, so here I am.
I was sent here via the NaNoWriMo (50,000 words in 30 days) forums having asked for any research I could do into Paranormal Organisations, I did intend to simply skim through and find what I could, but I was so enthralled (read: kept awake at night) I had to stay.
I'm an (amateur) writer from deepest darkest England (East Anglia *shudder*) but I studied Illustration at University for two years, generally I just like to make things. My biggest sources of inspiration, or at least the ones most relevant, are the Twilight Zone (Odyssey of Flight 33 is my favourite) House of Leaves (Do not read over a period of less than 24 hours in an empty house, I did, there was to be no sleep for the next week) The Voynich Manuscript (How can something so ordinary as random scribbles on paper be so terrifying!?) and the Fairy Fellers Master Stroke (If you've not ever seen it, do so, read the history first, it gives so much haunting context)
My favourite SCP so far is SCP-083 (but I'm getting new favourites the more I read) The idea of an endless changing labyrinth in the setting of a comfortable home seems so real and so terrifying, it hits me in the right places.
