So, this is my first attempt at an SCP. Just to give you an idea of what I'm going for, I'm going to think out loud for a bit on what I'm liking and not liking. If you don't care for that here's the link, http://sandbox.scp-wiki.net/the-minstrel
Ranting to follow….
What I Like:
1) The Hook: I find the idea of beings and places existing in an abstract form, such as in song, an interesting concept and something I'd like to write about.
2)The Guy: He's compassionate, but also fairly unstable because of what he has to deal with. That's something I'd like to expand on in the ballads.
What I don't Like:
1) The Cittern: It feels like a plot device, it writes like a plot device, it's a plot device. The vanishing act is the end of a few rewrites. It started out straight out making people commit suicide, then making them commit either suicide or homicide by making a few tweaks to their personality, then I thought that's just really cliche and switched to this.
2) The Dialog: It sounds cliche and like exposition. Not much I can do there. I like what it's trying to do, but I've never been good with dialog.
So anyway, what do you guys think? Could it work? Dead in the water? Just plain stupid?
