After a week-long SCP binge I finally decided to take the plunge and write my own today. It's on the sandbox wiki here. This is my first attempt, so I'm a bit worried about blatant Foundation universe errors, as well as internal logic problems, mangled edits (I jumped back and forth a lot and worry that I may have left out words or left sentence fragments), stylistic suggestions, and so on.
That said, I'm fairly happy with it at this stage, with a few caveats:
1. I think it's too long and wordy. It used to be longer and I pruned pretty heavily, but it's still over-long, I think. A friend has suggested breaking up the wall of text with a second image, and I'm currently pondering what it could be.
2. I'm concerned it gives too much away. I dislike excessive expungement, but I think this one could benefit from a little more mystery. One thing I am considering is moving some of the description into the experiment logs so readers can discover it "naturally" and gradually realise the implications of this object.
3. The experiment logs aren't finished yet. I'll be adding more to them over the next couple of days. That's where I'm hoping to really get my horror on.
I think the scariest thing about this SCP is what would happen if it were to target a powerful humanoid SCP, such as Able. The mental pictures that scenario brings to mind for me actually give me goosebumps.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
