I was wondering if anyone could think of any good articles or SCPs that shed some light on some of the early history of the Foundation. Where it might have begun, how old it is, if there are any original founders still alive… I would very much appreciate any input. Thank you for your help. :)
There's a number of O5 discussions that shed some light on the early days, but most of them contradict each other. Which, is usually the point.

I know that I've heard a few contradicting pieces of evidence, but that's exactly what I'm looking for. I'm specifically trying to write something that doesn't go along with any other stories.
My theory is that they used to be a bunch of different cults, churches and organisations that over time all combined to make the SCP Foundation sometime between 1750-1950 AD. The ranks and organisational systems just evolved over time, when they realised that exposing the Overseers to the mind-altering items was probably bad.
As I understand it, the Foundation propre was founded mid-twenties, although it originated from a large group of other paranormal organisations, each with their own agendas.
953 has an interesting interview log attached that would imply there was an overhaul of the Foundation in the 1940s (at least, that's my interpretation). The GOC were formed along with the United Nations following WWII as well. The mid-1920s date for the beginning of the Foundation is questionable, as the Chaos Insurgency split from the Foundation with a number of SCPs in 1924. I personally put the beginning of the Foundation as being somewhere in the 19th century, possibly around 1850. I'd guess MC&D started around this era as well, during the heyday of the British Empire. I can see them easily operating a "gentleman's club" or similar in downtown London at the time.
