Just thought to check and found my application approved. In fact, there's still a blinking (1) in the upper-right hand corner that I cannot seem to make go away.
I recently discovered the SCP Foundation when a friend posted a link to the vending machine, and browsing about I felt an increasing connection to the content here. It feels a bit Upright Citizens Brigade, a bit Illuminatus! a bit House of Leaves, a bit Warehouse 13 … secret societies and arcane items. Fun stuff. And also, as it turns out, the sort of thing I write anyway.*
And as I am currently wrestling with larger works, this seems a great way for me to exercise/exorcise the weird writerly urges and connect with a like-minded community.
Hopefully, the fairly unsubtle plug and leaking of my "real" name isn't too much of a faux pas.
"Woofaboomus," by the way, is a character/monster from some North Woods mythology I heard as a kid in western Maine. Since it was an oral tradition, I have probably chosen a spelling no one else familiar with the beastie would agree to. Google suggests I am the only one — well, after suggesting I actually meant wolfaboo. One of the shorts in the above links is about the woofaboomus.
So there. I have introduced myself**. Now who the hell are you?
*The book is also available in three dimensions, via Amazon or any brick-and-mortar.
**The user image is of me in makeup working at a local haunted house. I'm supposed to play a vampire, but I play him a bit more like Pappa Lazarou from League of Gentlemen.
