Hello there collective lurkers of the SCP forums, just a day or two ago I finally got accepted into the site after several attempts to join.
I've always been intrigued by the strange and in-ordinary when it comes to writing and otherwise any story telling, the cut-and-paste ones with happy endings just don't do it for me, I understand it's a story and by no means restricted to what we call reality, but still, hard to really get behind one when what begins as a dark or troubled tale ends up all sunshine and unicorn farts by the time the author is tired of it. Modern day horror films aren't worth the time either, they are all just slash-fests or modern day scenarios gone horribly awry to scare the mindless masses of teenagers who waste their money on an over-sized screen. Lovecraft if is what first did it for me, what first chilled me to the bone and inspires me to write/read stories that are just plain weird. I really hope I can contribute to some of the SCP Series 2, I already have a hand full of ideas I've been working on since before I decided to attempt joining. After reading the rules I'm a little nervous, but certain that I can get at least a few posted. Before I even looked into the rules and regulations, I had a decent idea of what makes a good SCP, I've been reading the first Series alone like crazy, when I have the free time, and at this moment I'm somewhere in the 400's. I need to get off my ass and begin reading some of the other material on this site, I've already read up on the other organizations and entities that the Foundation has to deal with along with the small article black/white/grey which I found an amazing summary of the foundation. If anyone has some suggested articles for me to start off with, I'd appreciate the heads up.
If that was tl;dr for anyone out there with a short attention span, I'm very enthusiastic about being part of this site and look forward to any criticism and tips you people can throw at me. Thanks for taking a look at my post!
P.S. Whoever wrote SCP-915 I want to shake your hand
