Hello, I recently got accepted on this site and thought it would be a good start to introduce myself.
I am a french Canadian student who has always been interesting in story-writing and the likes. I've first learn about SCPs during a skype call with a friend when the subject of horror games came in. He claimed that the games I played didn't have any fear factor and that I should try something more hardcore.
He recommended me a game that was available for my mac for free and that was surprisingly small in size; the game in question was a simulation of SCP-087. And as soon as I opened it, I could already tell I was in for a scare. Those of you who read SCP-087 will probably understand my fear; my first reaction was to try to avoid the steps. "I'm NOT going down there!" And that was when I learned that getting down the stairs was what it was all about. It took my friend several minutes to coax me to get down there, but I did. Needless to say that was some of the scariest moments of my life.
However, as I am a curious person, I couldn't help but want to ask him what is this about exactly, and what was the name about? Why call it SCP-something instead of just "staircases" or something. That's when he told me about what Secure Contain Protect was.
I quickly went on to google up SCP, and I ended up on this site. After reading the background on SCP-087, I got hooked, and I began to read more. I found some very inspiring SCPs, which made me want to write up my own or help improve others'.
I'm looking forward to contribute, even though I'll take my time, since according to the guide to newbies it seems some people get scared when newbies contribute too much.
