Do all of the various clients connect to the same room? i.e. are users using mIRC, or Chatzilla able to talk to users using Mibbit, and vice-versa?
Then did I do something wrong, or is the chat actually empty?
Most definitely. I've been on at all hours and found folks.
Is there something specific you are having trouble with about it? Like breakdown what you did, and if I can't be of any help with IRC, I'll grab one of my more proficient buddies.
Here are some likely things that could go wrong:
- You might have connected to the wrong server. You should be on SynIRC.
- You might not have registered your nickname with SynIRC's NickServ. You must do this before you will be able to enter the #site19 channel.
- You might not have actually entered the channel. You must type "/join #site19" (without the quotes, with the slash and pound sign).
I've tried several methods and I'm not sure I've gotten to the correct room yet.
After creating an account on SynIRC, I tried connecting via Mibbit by setting it to SynIRC, my nickname to whatever, and the channel to #site19. It connected, but there was only one person.
Was that the correct room? I have mIRC installed but the address bar stuff doesn't seem to function on Google Chrome.
#site19 is the correct room.
Registering your nickname with Nickserv is separate from just setting your nickname, though "creating an account on SynIRC" sounds like it means registering.
Who was the other person in the room?
