I'm kind of a totally noob to this even though I read the whole Newbies Guide and I need some help on making my first article flow a little more and seem more…realistic and entertaining. It seems like I don't sound that legit and everyone seems to be kind of harsh about it and really giving that much of advice. So I'm asking for some unbiased advice on how to get this 'tone' everyone is talking about. Here's my SCP here http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-1169
First thoughts are, I like the idea, turning people into 2d ink versions of themselves.
Now with that being said, A little bit of everything could be revised or re-written for clarity or making it sound more like an SCP. The first thing that really caught me was the description, it needs to sound less personalized and more clinical.
Instead of, "SCP-1169 or more commonly known as "Crackers the Cat" is a mischievous 1940's-style drawn anthropomorphic animated cartoon feline."
It could read something like:
"SCP-1169, whom the subject claims to be named "Crackers the Cat," appears to be a 2-dimensional 1940's anthropomorphic cartoon feline, composed primarily of an ink like material."
Also, instead of using [DATA EXPUNGED] for a researcher's name, try using the █████ for it instead. If you used [DATA EXPUNGED] because you were at loss for a name, even putting something like "Dr.█████" can help it a lot more. Seeing a bunch of [DATA EXPUNGED] can get repetative very quickly, even if in your case it's just removing the researcher's name.
My best advice as of right now would to read some more SCP's, and see how they are describing the surrounding environments and effects. A lot of the descriptions for them should give you a very good idea on giving your SCP a more "clinical" like feel to it, and the 'tone' you're going for.
EDIT: Just wanted to give another example.
"His true origins are unknown and after much media research, no one has yet to know whether such a cartoon character even existed or who could have been the original artist."
"While the subject's true origins are unknown at this point despite much research, SCP-1169 does not seem to have a clear origin from any animated film, or artist."
