Well, I have written two semi-initiation tales for nobody and AWCY? What do people think of them?
Somewhat lacking in subtlety.
Anywhere specific, or just in general?
Permission to edit spelling and/or grammar?
. It saw god and Jesus, staring down with hate and rage on this world, Xe saw endless shapes.
Was Xe intentional or a typo?
It was phrased as “were clowns always yellow” and “the skeleton was inside you” and “Loewes” and so many other ways.
What is Loewes?
EDIT: Thanks Pauli
Feel free to alter grammer. "Xe" is a gender neutral pronoun used on the internet, i was having problems thinking them up.
Just… in general. Nobody is primarily a vehicle for wordplay and clever author tricks. AWCY doesn't explain anything to anyone - it's up to you to get them.
Both require a degree of artistic intelligence to write. Mann and Dmatix are good examples for the former, Sorts, Voct and Smapti (among others) for the latter.
Thanks for the recommendations, I'll have a look at some of their things. As for AWCY explaining things, they are "meant to be" talking to a new recruit, and I don't think it explains a huge amount- "AWCY were founded by somebody, and used to be a number of unconnected organizations" isn't a huge revelation. "Nobody is primarily a vehicle for wordplay and clever author tricks."- I don't quite get this criticism. from what I've read, nobody seems to be filling the "mysterious, nameless agent of unknown forces" niche, which I at least tried to get in my story.
Hmm. I'm not a fan of the Nobody tale. I'm probably the one who wrote the most about Nobody (in recent memory at least), and this just doesn't seem like him to me. Of course, I have my own vision for Nobody, but this simple "kill him and you become him" doesn't work for me.
Fair enough. It wasn't necessarily meant to be a canon "this is where nobody came from", just an idea I had about him.
Edit- actually, for a possibility i just thought of, rather then becoming him, Nobody's master/creators/employers/whatever need a replacement, and the story is the agent being chosen by them? Does that seem any better?
Hmm- Hadn't heard of the breath before. Anyway, from those two SCPs, the only difference seems to be the name of the master and the number of nobodies, and there are articles with much more divergent canon on the wiki.
