I know there are a number of visual artists here (myself included). I often wonder what my job would be if I was a member of the Foundation. Being as I am an arts student (arts as in a "trade", not as in "this represent my sadness blegh"), my best skillset is related to visual arts. Would there be any reason for a visual artist to be under the employ of the Foundation…and not as a test subject (or food for that matter)?
let me tell u about memetics
There's lots of art-themed SCPs that could require specialized knowledge that other researchers or agents might not have or be contained by things that typical personnel could not do. Imagine an entity that lives within paintings and constantly tries to escape from them, held at bay by a crack team of speed artists who keep drawing a never ending labyrinth to keep it contained.
(someone write that sounds kind of cool)
You might wind up being volunteered to assist in maintaining SCP-1005. There are quite a few other art-related SCP's out there, but that one immediately sprang to mind.
Edit: Also, I imagine people with a background in the arts may be necessary to investigate AWCY? and their creations.
Maybe they have a guy draw pictures of the proceedings of various hearings the Foundation puts on, or subject interviews. Not terribly exciting, no, but it could be an opportunity for a more subtle, nuanced addition to Foundation mythos.
Not an artist myself really, but a designer and I've also been wondering would the Foundation employ any of us folk? The Foundation needs some pretty specific custom stuff, is it all on the shoulders of engineers or would they involve some designers as well? Probably some architects at least.
As a side note, any colleagues out there? I know there's a fair amount of graphic designers around here, any other fields?
