So, here's my first shot at making an SCP of my own, and I'd like some feedback.
(The "Time Lever" name is just a working title, by the way.)

I don't see a sticky on this subforum and I can't find anything in the required reading for new members regarding forum etiquette, so I'm just going to go ahead and bump this thread. I'd really like some feedback.
I believe bumping is frowned upon. I'll look at it, just give me a minute.
Edit: Also, if you really want (quick) feedback, hit up the chat; you'll probably get a lot more and a lot quicker.
Let me begin by saying that we already have something that slows time, and I don't think yours really does anything to set it apart.
You also entirely expunged your one and only log. Others have expunged one of several logs successfully, but even that is hard to do.
There are numerous smaller errors littered throughout the article, and I can do a more detailed critique if you really want, but I don't think that this is worth pursuing. Sorry.
You think so? Naturally I'm not going to be the first to have thought of something which slows time, but my rationale was that the fact that this one only slows down time in the operator's mind was enough to set it apart. Perhaps the fact that this thread was so sorely ignored indicates that I was wrong.
Mmm…I don't know. I understand it's psychological (or, perhaps even physical; it could just drastically increase brain function, sort of like the slow-mo adrenaline rush you get when falling down stairs), and the one I linked to has an actual effect radius, but this just doesn't seem to offer anything to make it really special. Lots of people—both on and off site—have written about time manipulation, so what does yours do to set it apart? I don't think it being a psychological effect is going to be enough.

Nah. Threads get overlooked all the time. They're nice if you're not in any rush, but chat is the place to be if you're looking for a lot of quick feedback.
I wouldn't sweat it. SCPs take time; I haven't written a good one yet either.
P.S.: Actually, you know what, I thought of something that could save this idea. I was re-reading this before posting it, and I got an idea: What if it actually is physical rather than psychological? The lever doesn't slow time, it just pumps up brain function like crazy (making the outside world appear slow to the user). It's cool because it could be used to spend a lot of time working on a problem without your physical body aging, but the hitch is that it works your brain really hard and causes damage (just like running too much can damage your leg muscles). Wadda ya think?
Hm, I don't know. That's definitely an intriguing concept, but I intended for this to focus on the horror of being "trapped in your own body" - especially in the implication that throwing the lever completely results in time stopping entirely, trapping you in your body forever.
I don't think my suggestion would stop you from doing that. At first people could use it in a controlled environment and all goes well, but then someone could fuck up or abuse it, in which case they are "trapped".
I'm only suggesting a slight change regarding how it actually works; the perceived effect remains the same.
Does that make sense?
