These things are complicated enough to refine weapons-grade uranium from seawater. Making them able to synthesize TNT isn't really a stretch.
I think this a good article, and upvoted, so I don't think it needs much to make it better. However, if I was writing it, I would change a couple of things.
1: Get rid of about half of the eradication suggestions. Most of them sound more like a plot of an episode of Captain Planet than a serious suggestion from scientists.
2: Same with redactions. What is this city that has a salt water lagoon in it's city limits. I honestly couldn't think of a city it would be, and naming the actual city would make it seem real and threatening, instead of just confusing.
3: This is just a personal hook I find really interesting, but this could be the reproduction model of a species of space-faring single celled life-forms. They build nukes to blow themselves into space, then wait potentially millions of years and maybe some of them land on another planet with water and the materials to build another nuke. To me, it would give the article less of a 'evil organization making evil protists that make nukes' article and more of a 'The universe is fundamentally crazy, and we can't even pretend to understand half of it' article.
