Ok I have written two SCP's so far and for one reason or another they have not turned out to be very good.
So before I write anything I wanted to ask if my idea has the potential to be worth it. Here it is:
A computer program that has intelligence equal to or at least close to that of a human. It is able to communicate to the user of the computer it is stored on using the command prompt, replicate itself, adjust it's own structure to evade detection by virus protection software and adjust software installed on a computer.
It doesn't seek world domination or mankind's downfall, all it wants is to create mischief and mess with the mind of the computer's user. This varies between creating disturbing graphical glitches in video games and in some cases create completely new character models and stick them in the game to scare the player, to stealing card details and buying useless, overpriced or annoying things; like buying 50 pizza's from various takeaways.
But it's humour can become darker, like opening graphic pornography on childrens computers, creating death threat emails from unknown addresses or sending images of diseased or mangled corpses to the user.
I was also thinking of adding some interview logs between a researcher and the program.
I know that the idea of a computer program has been done before, I have looked at all the articles in the "Computer" tag (Like the Ghost in the Machine), but I don't feel that this particular idea has been done before (if it has, let me know)
What do you all think? Does the idea have potential?
