First of all can I start off by saying that yesterday I had my first ever article deletion, and I was very surprised at how negative the reaction was and how fast it dropped to -24, where it was finally put out of its misery. HOWEVER, It wasn't an amazing article, and I suspected it might not stick, and this only tangentially inspired me to write down what I had already been noticing for the past month or so.
It may be nothing but me being a huge grump, but I can't help noticing that there's a very binary voting going on recently. An article either flies up to +30 or plummets to -20 within 24 hours of arrival, and I can't help suspect that there is a lot of lemming voting going on with new users, primarily as there is a lot of contrived snark in the comments, as if people are competing to make the most damning and hilarious one-line putdown of what is usually not that terrible an article. I may be totally wrong and subject to aformentioned 'grumpy old man' syndrome but there doesn't seem to be any of the slow creep of a while back.
I'm not sure what could be done about it, but that's not my job, I'm (relatively) new here myself. Anyone else have an opinion on this?1
