So, I'm a stubborn bastard. I've got an idea, but I can't quite make it jive. And I can't let it go.
So there's a box. It makes coins. Coins go into dead people, rewire brain and bring them back to life. All this happens because box and coins are actually a…probe(?).
They record everything the person sees, hears, thinks, feels (physically and emotionally), does, says, perceives, etc. And then it sends this information off to…another planet, another dimension, hell, the land of the sugar plum faeries…I don't know/care.
It's these last parts I'm stumped on. I've tried two major revisions to try and explain that it's recording and sending this stuff without EXPLAINING it, and it hasn't been getting across. I'm having a dilly of a time trying to put that into the skip without beating the reader over the head. I'm also having a hard time trying to find a logical way for the Foundation to have figured this shit out on their own (I don't want it to read like there was a placard next to the thing when they found it, explaining what it does).
I'm not even sure I'm looking for specific advice on how to fix this. Maybe I just needed to bitch and complain before tackling it again.
Any ideas? Or anyone else run into problems like this, hitting a wall getting a point across? Hell, anyone like cupcakes? I think I just need to chit chat about blargh and get my head on straight again.
