I'm still relatively new to this site and my total time on it has been limited given. This may seem like a ridiculous question to ask, given the nature of the site. All the same, it's one I keep wondering as I read more of the SCP Containment Procedures. Where exactly does the in-universe Foundation get all the money it needs to finance its operations? I've searched through the forums and the site itself and haven't found a satisfactory answer to this question.
Take the containment procedures for 899 for example. Money would have to be allocated to maintain the fire-break, maintain the structure of the three cabins, supply all three cabins with necessities (toiletries, food, cooking and eating utensils, water, etc), weapons for the staff to use in the event of an attack, equipment for researchers to use (cameras, notebooks, pencils, computers, etc), and amnesiacs to administer to any non-Foundation staff encountering an SCP-899 event. That is disregarding the paychecks for all staff working on 899, including researchers, security personnel, and the psychiatrists for the mandatory psychiatric evaluation for anyone encountering 899.
These are the costs for containing just one out of well over a thousand SCPs. When considering there are also the administrative and operational costs of the Foundation (and a nuke for every Foundation Site in the event of a containment breach), I must again ask: Where does the Foundation in-universe get the money for its operations?
Just a little question and I'd really appreciate an answer. Thanks. :)
