Welcome, IrradiatedPanda! It's always nice to see somebody eager to get started. However, since you've read so few articles, I'd suggest going through and reading quite a bit more before you take a stab at it. The best route to figuring out what makes an article is reading both it and the Discussion, and see what others do and don't like. However, note that there's a lot of different kinds of articles, concepts, and ways to approach them, so you'll definitely want to read some more to get a good idea of what makes them work and why others don't. Soulless has a good point in that newer articles are looked at differently than others, so I would suggest looking through the 1000-1999 block a bit, as it usually holds our most recent articles.
Once you feel you're ready to take a stab at it, set up a single page on the sandbox devoted to all of your future drafts. It's really not a good idea to post a draft without getting some critique on it, as cold-posts are more inclined to drop into deletion, so make sure you get a few people to look at it. So to get somebody to look at it, head over to either the draft section of the forum or the chat to get some feedback on the idea. The chat's also an overall good place to hang around, as it introduces you to the rest of the community.
Good luck once you get started, though! It's a bit difficult, but if you persevere you'll surely get something to stick. If you need any more assistance, such as getting a draft looked over or just general help, feel free to drop me a PM. I'd be more than willing to help you out.
