SCP Idea: Needle Spiders
Here's a picture of it: http://www.findaspider.org.au/find/spiders/images/516B10.jpg
Found near unknown ruins of an ancient civilization. It is a collection of thousands of black spiders with green markings that is not related to any present day genus of spiders. Most of the spiders are soldiers that have a radial leg span of 4in which each have syringe-like fangs on the tips of their 4 front legs and they have a Queen with a radial leg span of 8in that tells the other spiders where to go, where to attack, etc, by using various hormone secretions and a communication system of tapping and tugging on webs similar to morse code. The Needle Spiders also show signs of intelligence and teamwork, by webbing the joints of the victim, and synchronizing their attacks, effectively immobilizing the victim, once the victim is secured they will collectively swarm it, and bring the victim to a ceiling or a high altitude, and begin inserting their needle legs into their victim, they will then inject a pinkish white fluid into the victim. They will then leave its victim and return to its nest in a usually bright place. The Victim will then become malnourished and dehydrated no matter how much they eat or drink and they begin to regenerate any damage done to them. The Victim then starts severe vomiting of a dark reddish liquid with tiny jelly-like sacs in the liquid. The victim usually survives the experience with little or no side effects with a recovery time of 4 days and the tiny 1 millimeter sacs in the liquid split open to reveal the juvenile needle spider with fangs already on their front 4 legs. The Queen shows parental care, as the Queen will tend to the children using comb like bristles that secrete a nutrient rich liquid that increases the growth of any animal. The juvenile needle spiders also show precocious behavior by protecting their younger siblings and taking care of them when the Queen is not present. The Spiders then mature over the course of a day and begin taking orders from the Queen, completing their development.
I haven't yet figured out how a new Queen is chosen, and I'm deciding whether or not I should incorporate some kind of ancient ritual for the civilization they were found at, and what do you think about it?
